A double celebration here at The Folk and Costume Museum on Friday 26th April 2019.
We’re celebrating the launch of a book written by NTG’s Costume Curator, Caro Drake. Entitled ‘guernsey with a small g’ the book explains the history of Guernsey’s iconic item of clothing and the role of knitting in Guernsey’s history.
The second celebration is that of the ‘guernsey’ jumper, a heritage classic that represents a knitting tradition that is still going strong. Friday 26th April is the official ‘Wear a guernsey day’ for 2019. We are offering a 10% discount on all guernsey’s sold at our Museum Shop on the day and a donation will be made to RNLI from the value of goods purchased by shoppers wearing a guernsey.
As part of this Island wide Heritage Festival Event, a 100yr old guernsey owned by the National Trust of Guernsey will be displayed at the Guernsey Information Centre between 11.30am and 5.00pm on Friday 26th April.
