‘Making what we have, go further’
Together with our craft demonstrators, we will be opening up the Courtyard at The Folk and Costume Museum to school-aged children and families for a workshop in basic sewing skills, darning, mending and learning how to make something new out of an old garment. Upcyling a man’s shirt or ladies blouse, participants will make a start on their garment, take it away and between the event and Le Viaër Marchi on Monday 6 July, embellish it with home-made add ons to make it their own upcycled ‘Make do and Mend’ garment. At Le Viaër Marchi, we will hold a ‘Make do and Mend’ competition for all of the garments, with the winner being photographed with The Peggy Carey Memorial Trophy for the best-dressed group.
This event is also open to schools and information will shortly be provided.
