Buildings – Restoration & Preservation

We’re a charity that works to preserve and protect historic places and spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Several properties have been bequeathed to the care of the Trust over the past fifty years. Many of the dwellings are privately tenanted and therefore closed to the general public, but their exteriors and architectural significance can still be appreciated. Wherever possible we open up our properties for you to enjoy.

Walks & Land – Stretch your mind & legs

National Trust of Guernsey has acquired parcels of land across the island by way of gift, bequest or purchase. These include areas of coastline as well as pockets of undeveloped countryside. These retreats are havens for contemplation, spaces to stretch one’s legs, as well as one’s mind.

These areas require substantial ongoing maintenance and the Trust is grateful to the volunteers who keep the land and walks both accessible and beautiful.

Events for Members, Families & Friends

We love throwing parties, events and sharing all things NTG.

NT’s event calender always kicks off in February with a sell out NTG Quiz at St. James.

Varied and interesting events take place throughout the year, but NTG’s most eagerly anticipated and widely attended annual event is Le Viaer Marchi (Old Guernsey Market) enjoyed by thousands of locals and visitors alike.

This event focuses around a central cluster of stalls selling traditional home-made produce including piping-hot beanjar, Guernsey biscuits and gache as well as local cider, ice cream and honey. Many traditional skills are also demonstrated such as butter making, weaving of lobster pots, lace and rope making, with stall holders in customary Guernsey dress.

Smaller and interesting events, such as trips to Jethou Island and an Annual Hog Roast are well supported and fun for all the family.
